The Land Transport Authority (LTA), in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), has reaffirmed the enforcement deadline for mandatory speed limiter installations on lorries across Singapore.

According to official directives, all lorries with a Maximum Laden Weight (MLW) between 3,501kg and 12,000kg must be equipped with a 60km/h speed limiter by their respective deadlines.

Key Compliance Deadlines:

  • Lorries registered before January 1, 2024 must comply by January 2026

  • Lorries registered from 2024 onwards must comply by July 2027

Authorities estimate that more than 120,000 commercial vehicles fall under the scope of the mandate.

Non-compliance may lead to:

  • Failed vehicle inspections at VICOM or STA

  • Fines of up to $10,000 per offence

  • Potential operational suspension for repeat offenders

The move is part of Singapore’s broader effort to enhance road safety and reduce the risks posed by high-speed commercial vehicles.
